Boys Night out at the races!

Charlie and I had a Girls Night and the same night Charles and Zak had a boys night. The girls went to dinner and a movie and Charles and Zak went to a amateur race track. I had the boys take the camera and these are the pics that Zak mostly took and the ones that he wants to be shown....

Solvang CA July 08

There is this small town about 20 minutes from us in the mountains called Solvang..and it is ALL decorated as if it's a Dutch town. There are fudge shops, ice cream shops, pastry shops and wine tastings EVERYWHERE. Oh and plenty of stores to spend your $$ on junk. lol We went recently, but before we went, we stopped by a nearby waterfall. It was just beautiful.

There was a sign at the beginning of the trail that warned about mountain lions. It said to keep the kids close b/c the mountain lions favored them. I didn't know it would traumatize Zak to read it out loud, but he kept VERY close to us the whole time LOL!

The Kids Alien Cake ;)

We have this Kids Cookbook that the kids love. They pick out stuff and we make it. This was their latest...an Alien Cake. It looks more like a merry go round to me but the loved it and were very proud of it, so that's what matters :)

Convention 2008!

We are assigned to the Convention that was to be in Bakersfield, but our plans fell through w/ our family there, so I quickly called Stephanie to see if she had her convention yet. She hadn't, but it was coming up quick, so we shifted plans and were able to make it to her convention in San Diego. We had SUCH a blast! We got there by train (7 hour train ride) and that was SO MUCH FUN! It was comfortable, roomy, the chairs reclined w/ foot rests, etc etc. It was the comfy way I've traveled yet! Steph picked us up and we spent the better part of the next week with her.

There was an unusual heat wave the weekend of the convention and it was so stifling hot that we had to take some of Zak's clothes off some of the days. Here are the pics!

Pismo Beach pics

The other weekend we made a quick trip to a beach about an hour from us (Pismo) to see Charles Brother (Michael) and his family. The kids LOVE their California cousins, and here are some pics of them playing on the beach.

Today in the pool!

The apartment complex we are in right now has a pool. The kids are in it several times a week, and suddenly they can swim LOL. When we got here they really didn't but now they are all over the place in the pool. They dive (ish) in the 8ft section, dive in the 5 ft section for dive toys, and they are pretty fast when they race each other. We are really surprised at how far they have come, and how quickly! Check out this slideshow of them in the pool today!
